CELEBRITY REPTILES ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS is run by husband and wife team Janet and Martin Southcombe. Janet and Martin have been scout leaders for many years and have experience of working with children aged 5 to 16. In their scouting past they have also run a disabled scout troop and Janet has over 15 years experience of working with people of all ages who have learning disabilities. In the 1990's, Martin spent time at The London Zoo working in the reptile house and the invertebrate Conservation Centre. During this time he studied for and gained a City and Guilds qualification in zoo animal management. In fact, Martin passed the exam with a distinction. Janet and Martin are passionate about animals and believe that they should play a significant part in children's learning. With their knowledge and enthusiasm, the idea of a business that allowed them to take their animal collection into nursery, primary and secondary schools to further children's knowledge of the natural world and give them the chance to interact with animals that they may not otherwise get a chance to do was a logical step. Janet is a domestic small mammal enthusiast who in the past has kept, bred and shown with success, fancy rats and mice. Martin prefers reptiles, insects, spiders and exotic mammals. As well as school presentations, Celebrity Reptiles Animal Encounters are able to present an animal encounter session for a cool children's party which allows the birthday child to assist the presenter with the show and they also receive a special animal related present from Celebrity Reptiles. But it's not just the kids that can have a fun time. CELEBRITY REPTILES ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS can be tailored to a 'grown up kid's' experience for corporate events or character building sessions or simply for time out with a bit of fun and interaction.
